Harris Hematoxylin Solutions are nuclear stains intended for use in Histology and Cytology. Harris Hematoxylin Solutions are for “In Vitro Diagnostic Use”. Hematoxylin, a common nuclear stain, is isolated from an extract of logwood (Haematoxylon campechianum).
Add 50 ml of 10% alcoholic hematoxylin solution and heat to boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and slowly add 2.5 g of mercuric oxide (red). Heat to the solution and until it becomes dark purple color. Cool the solution in cold water bath and add 20 ml of glacial acetic acid (concentrated).
The Harris Haematoxylin Stain (Ortho) is a specially formulated nuclear stain designed to stain nuclei of cytological preparations. The stained cell sample is used to facilitate the diagnosis of the pathological state intended for in-vitro examination of cellular deformity
