Dehydrated, purified fresh bile which is used as a selective inhibitory agent in bile media. Ox-bile desiccated is prepared by a low temperature dehydration process which ensures a uniform product and eliminates the difficulties encountered in obtaining satisfactory supplies of fresh bile. An 8 to 10% solution of the dehydrated product is equivalent to fresh bile. 1 gram of dried Ox Bile is equivalent to 8 grams of fresh bile.
Product Application:
  • Ox-bile, dehydrated, purified has been used:
  • as a supplement in De Man, Rogosa and Sharpe agar (MRS) broth for culturing lactic acid bacteria
  • in bile salt tolerance testing of Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus reuteri
  • as a component of simulated gastric and intestinal fluids to mimic bile for Mycobacterium bovis BCG vaccine survival studies
